20th Century Decorative Arts

Emile Gallé #5537 - Oleander - Ca 1920

Large glass vase made by Gallé with etched decoration of Oleander flowers and leaves in multiple layers. Due to the high quality of the etching and grinding work, the red flowers are very beautifully detailed and partly translucent and the dark green leaves subtly fall over each other and over the flowers, which has a refined depth effect.
All this on a yellow matted background. The inside of the neck is even slightly fluorescent.
The special square shape of the vase between the round mouth and foot and the quality of the decoration show a vase in the higher segment of Gallé production.
