Alfred-Louis-Achille Daguet was a goldsmith specializing in chased copper panels, which he applied to hinged boxes, mantel clocks, and other refined objects. His delicately rendered images of flowers, birds, and the sea are enhanced with colorful cabochons.
Sarah Bernard, among others, was a devotee of his work and owned several pieces.

Relatively little is known about Daguet's life. He was a student of Jean Léon Gérôme and lived in Paris until 1910. His work was exhibited in 1903 and 1904 at the Société des Artistes Français.
He had a workshop above Siegfried Bings l'Art Nouveau in Paris, for whom he worked part-time and produced beautiful objects.
His pieces were usually signed with a monogram "A.D." incorporated into the design, and the better pieces were signed in full, sometimes with the addition of the year of manufacture.

Since everything was done by hand, all his pieces are in fact unique objects.
