Lamarre was educated at the "École des Beaux-Arts" in Paris.
At the porcelain firm of Charles Pillivuyt he trained in the technique of porcelain glazing and in 1880 he became the chief designer at the firm.
Quite a few of his glazes were reminiscent of the green and red running glazes of Adriën Dalpayrat.
He worked a lot with the bronze artist and chiseleur Paul Louchet, with whom he created a number of porcelain Art Nouveau objects mounted in bronze..
