Gilded, patinated and hammered bronze jewelry gasket.
The decorations on the jewelry box are inspired by nature, specifically by the plane tree. The plane tree was a common symbol in Art Nouveau, given its graceful, geometric leaves and fruit shapes. The "icing on the cake" is the push button in the shape of a plane tree fruit, which is a unique and refined detail.
The box rests on legs shaped like lions, a clear symbolic element. Lions are often associated with strength, majesty and protection, the latter very applicable to the intended contents of the box.
The inside of the box is lined with beige velvet, typical of luxury objects of that time. The velvet adds a soft, lush look that complements the sophisticated exterior of the casket.
Signed "Louchet Ciseleur" In summary, the jewelery box is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau design, where Paul Louchet has used his extraordinary technical skill and artistic vision to create an object of great beauty and detail. The object combines symbolism, nature and luxury in a way that is recognizable for this time period.
