Exceptional vase by Daum, Nancy with winter landscape, ca 1910.
The winter landscape vase has a dramatic appearance that seems to capture the peace and beauty of winter in glass, with trees standing in the snow in a forest that conveys the winter atmosphere. The work is both visually and technically impressive due to the texture of the glass and the complexity of the techniques:
Made up of three layers of glass, the outer layer of which is etched and enameled with a decor of trees in the snow, with the added grisaille painting in the background, which gives the vase a beautiful three-dimensional effect. The inner layer with embedded color powders in orange and yellow gives the vase the intended atmosphere.
The long, elegant and slightly flattened shape of the vase lends itself extremely well to this decor.
