Sybren Valkema #5134 - Leerdam Unica - 1966

Free blown glass Leerdam Unica vase by Sybren Valkema in 1966.
Partly opalescent glass with a figurative internal decoration of what looks like giants or prehistoric beings that evoque the feeling you get reading H.G. Wells' book "The Food of the Gods, and How it Came to Earth". Possibly he was inspired by this novel, but that is just a guess.
This kind of decoration was used a few times by him, for instance on a vase from 1967 showed in the book "Leerdam Unica 1923-1987" by Marc Heiremans, picture 329.
The vase is signed in diamond writing: Leerdam Unica, Sybren Valkema and year letter VO 106, for 1966.
At the highest point the vase measures 25 cm.
